Baby sleep basics: 9 to 12 months

Your baby sleeps around 14 hours a day. Your baby naps for 1 to 2 hours twice a day. Most babies sleep through the night.

Tips to help your baby sleep:

Tip #1: Bedtime routine

Bathtime, pj's, story time, lullaby, kiss. Start your routine well before bedtime. Follow the same routine each night.

Tip #2: Solo sleep

Encourage your baby to fall asleep on his own. Put your baby down when drowsy but still awake. When your baby wakes up, give him a few minutes to settle back to sleep.

Tip #3: Schedule

Set regular playtimes, mealtimes, nap times, bedtimes. Energetic behavior can be a sign of sleepiness. Try putting your baby to bed earlier. Sleep patterns change as babies grow, but don't worry – you've got this!
